Seabourn Cruises - About Us

OUR COMPANY

Overview

At Seabourn, we are passionate about travel. We believe that traveling for pleasure has a redemptive power that enriches people’s lives. And we believe that people should travel well.

Cruising on a Seabourn ship is unlike any other form of travel. The experience is luxurious, yet relaxed -- elegant, yet casual -- sumptuous, yet understated. Our intimate ships visit the most desirable destinations worldwide, sailing to the heart of landmark cities, as well as to hidden gems where larger vessels cannot follow.

Our ships attract interesting people, who seek to share experiences beyond the expected in places beyond the ordinary. Our acclaimed staff offers a unique style of heartfelt hospitality that is sincere, thoughtful and personal.

This is the Seabourn experience -- a style of cruising we pioneered when the company introduced Seabourn Pride, our first 208-guest, all-suite ship in 1988. At the time, a cruise expert stated that “Seabourn is in a class by itself,” and that is still true today. Our fleet of six graceful ships carry between 208 and 450 guests each, exclusively in ocean-view suites. They are graciously served by nearly the same number of hand-picked crew, who are consistently ranked as the finest at sea, earning Seabourn honors as the World’s Best Small Ship Cruise Line in surveys of readers by Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure.

In 2009, Seabourn again raised the bar with the debut of Seabourn Odyssey, hailed as “a game-changer for the ultra-luxury segment.” Although larger than the original Seabourn sisters, Seabourn Odyssey carries just 450 guests and offers a wealth of amenities made possible by the highest ratio of space per guest in the cruise industry, including the largest spa on any luxury ship and generous private verandas on 90 percent of her suites. Seabourn Odyssey has since been joined by two identical sisters, Seabourn Sojourn in 2010 and Seabourn Quest in 2011.

Our expanded fleet allows us to offer the award-winning Seabourn experience to more travelers, in more cruising regions than ever before. No matter where in our wide world you want to travel, we offer you the opportunity to see it all in perfect elegance and ease -- to travel well -- aboard the best small ships in the world.

We would be honored to have you travel with us on your next journey.

So for anyone considering a Seabourn cruise ship career, you’ll need to be dedicated. If, like us, you’re striving to be the absolute best at what you do, step aboard and join us for the cruise career journey of your life.

Roles onboard
For all the ships in our fleet, we recruit at every level and have a strict policy of promoting from within, whenever and wherever possible. We’re therefore looking for serious and highly motivated professionals who are keen to make a hospitality career at sea with us, providing the standards of service and cuisine that ensure our discerning clients come back time and time again. A career in the cruise industry, particularly on board a Seabourn ship, is a job like no other.

Training received on our yachts
As you might expect, a Seabourn cruising job offers exceptional development opportunities. The progress of our people is a high priority at Seabourn Cruise Line. All new recruits undergo initial ship’s safety training after arrival. However, there is no substitute for experience and, with the diverse and high level service environments we offer, you will certainly benefit in time through ongoing on-the-job training. Further formal training is also provided on board all cruise ships for service related roles.

Our Specifics
Working at sea, contract periods tend to be four months on, two months off. This may vary depending on which yacht you are assigned to, as each has a separate itinerary. And that’s not the only benefit of a career on one of our cruise ships. We offer competitive salaries, food and accommodation is paid for, and flights to and from your yacht are free. Plus of course, the whole time you’re working on board, you get to see and experience some of the most incredible parts of the world.

The requirements
There has never been a better time to apply for a career on board a Seabourn yacht. It is likely that your current job will give you sufficient experience to work on one of our yachts. Almost every shore-based travel or hospitality related job working with members of the public should give you the ideal platform to apply for opportunities at sea. The most important attributes for a successful career in the cruise industry are a recognized professional diploma or equivalent and relevant hotel service experience (preferably 4* or 5* years) as well as fluent written and spoken English.

The next step
Working on one of our yachts is exciting, fun and highly rewarding. While you are onboard, you will have endless opportunities to visit many overseas countries and places of interest. Few other hospitality jobs can offer such variety. But please understand, working on board isn’t for everyone. It’s hard work and disciplined. Which is why you must genuinely enjoy being with people and be dedicated to customer service. If this sounds like you, your career at sea awaits.
