Description
To provide passenger with friendly, personalized front-desk service, 24 hours a day.

Principal Functions
  • Become knowledgeable concerning all facets of shipboard organization and services, ports of call and shore excursions
  • Process all passengers at embarkation/registration according to the embarkation SOP. This includes, lifting tickets, collecting passports and other documents. Issue boarding cards to each passenger embarking
  • Receive lost and found items from Housekeeper and others. Inventory contents of found purses, etc., in presence of person submitting them and both parties sign inventory. Maintain a log of all found items and reports of lost items.
  • Maintain a working change fund for the cashing of passenger travellers checks, making change, etc. This fund to be balanced daily. Receipts are to be submitted to the Chief Purser on a daily basis. Shortages are the responsibility of the Receptionist
  • Ensure that all passenger complaints received at the Reception Desk are either settled immediately or referred to the Chief Purser or Hotel Manager for follow up. Passenger to be promptly advised of all actions taken.
  • Process passenger credit-card vouchers for eventual settlement of their voyage account
  • Personalize commemorative certificates for all passengers and arrange for distribution
  • If on night duty, receive all executed service checks from bars and other outlets. Posting of all charges in to DTS/TTG for the passenger accounting. Review the signature and the register reading on each check to ensure proper account posting has been accomplished. Balance all departmental postings each day.
  • Ensure that the Reception area is kept in a presentable, clean and orderly manner at all times.
  • Ensure that passenger business is always completed prior to any service being given to staff or others. This includes to make sure the Reception desk is always available to guests.
  • Ensure access to the Reception office is strictly limited to members of the Purser’s staff or other Sen. Officers having legitimate ship’s business there.
  • Prepares the menus for the Restaurants in cooperation with the CDC and Hotel Manager
  • Ensures that all documents/printing and forms going into the suites are being approved by the Hotel Manger
  • Handles all onboard printing and distribution into the guest suites.
  • Prepares the Berthing list, Guest lists, Party invitations, Gift Orders and special notes from the Ship’s management to the guests
  • To the maximum extent possible, become aware of each guest name as soon as possible during each cruise.
  • Responsible for becoming familiar with the Carnival Corporate Environmental Compliance Plan (ECP), as it applies to the duties and responsibilities of this position.

  • Fluent English, written and spoken
  • Patient, tactful and courteous
  • Previous ships experience
  • Able to work under pressure
  • High level of integrity
  • Maintain confidentiality of all communications whether written, email, fax or telephone
