Overall responsibility for the cleanliness, maintenance and guest service in all guest suites and the cleanliness of public areas and crew areas.
Responsible for the smooth operation of the ship laundry and linen room operation.
Positions supervised: Assist Housekeeper, Linen Keeper, Laundry Master, Stewardesses, Laundry crew, Housekeeping Utilities.
Principal Functions
- Ensure suites are ready to receive passengers prior to the start of each embarkation
- Ensure that daily inspection of guest suites and public spaces are carried out and that Company’s high standards of cleanliness and passenger service are maintained throughout the vessel.
- Responsible for the cleanness of the crew areas, including stairs, corridors, bulkheads and ceiling.
- Ensure that IOL is updated daily.
- Responsible for the distribution and proper storage of guest luggage and off loading at the end of the cruise.
- Ensure that all staff is fully trained to ensure a high quality of guest services. To include operational procedures ( SOP) , general ship and up to date voyage / cruise information.
- Supervise the Laundry operation to ensure that that all laundry activities are carried out efficiently and in accordance with company standard.
- Maintain current inventories of all items required for the proper fulfilment of assigned duties within the Housekeeping department. Ensure that all requisitions are closely monitored and waste is minimized.
- Responsible to order replenishment stock of all items used in Housekeeping Dept.
- Ensure monthly ship’s inventory of all uniforms, linen, and amenities are carried out.
- Responsible for becoming familiar with the Carnival Corporate Environmental Compliance Plan (ECP), as it applies to the duties and responsibilities of this position.
- Ensures that all logs for Environment , Safety and U.S.P.H. are being kept updated
- Ensure Housekeeping Pantries are kept to U.S.P.H. standard.
- Prepares the vacation plan for the entire HK department in cooperation with the Crew Purser
- Communicates all special requests respectively with the HK department.
- Organise the daily meeting within the HK department
- Maintain clear communication with all other onboard departments to ensure a smooth operation.
- Ensure crew cabin inspections are completed weekly and any defects reported.
- Create Ship Inspection Report once a month from inspection with Senior Officers.
Secondary Functions
- Perform staff evaluations
- Performs training sessions with the Stewardesses and HK utilities.
- Supervise the Asst HK in her function to keep the flower and plants program well maintained throughout the vessel
- Co-ordinate the issue and distribution of new suite equipment such as pillows, ice buckets, coat hangers waste bins etc
- Supervise that amenity locker is maintained and controlled by the Assistant Housekeeper
- Co-ordinate the distribution of linen / towel stock takes on a regular basis, to assess stock in circulation
- Responsible for the organisation and issuing of guest gifts and amenities on a voyage basis
Requirements
- At least two years of working experience as a Asst Housekeeper in a fast pace 4 or 5 star Hotel
- Ship experience a plus
- Working experience with an extensive cleaning program
- Have a good overview for budgets
- To be knowledgeable of the USPH and other international Public Health rules and regulations by participating in the company's Basic Food Hygiene course every 2 years and achieving a minimum of 80% pass.
- Strong command of the English language combined with good written skills.
- Ability to work in a team that is focused on exceeding guest expectations.

- Ability to supervise and coordinate the Stewardess team.
