Continue to the Vlaaikensgang (Pie Alley)—an alley that is typical of medieval Antwerp. From there you walk to the Groenplaats, complete with a statue of the famous Belgian painter P.P. Rubens. You’ll arrive at Our Lady’s Cathedral and visit the interior. This is the largest Gothic cathedral in Belgium and a major landmark of Antwerp. Inside are some of Rubens’ greatest paintings, including Elevation of the Cross and The Descent of the Cross. Afterwards, you guide will lead you back to Market Square to visit the City Hall. This building, finished in 1564, is one of the oldest (and probably one of the most beautiful) Renaissance buildings in the Low Countries. The ornate interior dates mostly from the 19th century. A panoramic drive take syou past the King Boudewijn Stadium (Belgium’s national sport stadium) and the Centenaire (exhibition halls built to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Belgium), and to the Atomium statue for a photo stop. The Atomium statue was built for the world fair in Brussels in 1958 and represents an iron molecule. Then your coach will lead you to the center of the city passing the Chinese pavilion, the Japanese Tower and the Royal Castle of Laeken (the residence of our King Albert and Queen Paola). Your walking tour will start near the Central Station where you stroll through the Old Town area to admire first the St Hubert Arcades, shops and Butchers' Street with its plethora of restaurants and cafés. A few blocks away from the Butchers' Street, you will be astonished by the beauty of the Grand Place. With its Baroque guild houses and Town Hall, the Brussels Grand Place is often called the most beautiful market square in the world. A few blocks further, you’ll meet Manneken Pis—Brussels best known little boy.
