Depart Sydney via the Sydney Harbour Bridge; then continue to the Featherdale Wildlife Park for an up-close look at native Australian animals. From here, you will pass through fertile farmland and see the historic early settlement town of Richmond. Cross the Hawkesbury River to explore the Bells Line of Road. This is the land of the mountain apple—the northwestern passage over the mountains. You will breathe in the invigorating scent of the Australian eucalyptus as you travel into the Burralow Creek National Park, a young river canyon. A short walk along this trail will reveal towering eucalyptus, red gums, grass trees and other varieties of Australian flora. Access to this area is restricted, and will be one of the highlights of your tour. During the ride, you’ll stop for lunch at Mt Tomah Hermons Restaurant (or similar). Enjoy a glass of wine with your meal; additional beverages are available at your own expense. After lunch, you will proceed to Echo Point for stunning vistas of the Blue Mountains, breathtaking Jamieson Valley and famous Three Sisters rock formations. The Blue Mountains are a UNESCO World Heritage Site—an area of breathtaking views, rugged tablelands, sheer cliffs and deep, inaccessible valleys covering more than 2.5 million acres. Following your visit, you will re-board your off-road vehicle for the two-hour return drive to Sydney. En route, you’ll stop briefly for photos at Olympic Park before returning to the ship.

Heading through the city center you’ll see the Sydney Tower and the magnificent Queen Victoria Building. Travel east of the city to the most sought-after residential areas in Sydney. From Darling Point to Watson Bay, the shoreline is fringed with vast mansions and expensive apartments overlooking a flotilla of yachts and launches moored along the harbor’s edge. See the sidewalk cafés and chic boutiques of Double Bay and take in the magnificent city skyline from Watsons Bay. The Sydney Opera House was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1973, and is still today indisputably Sydney’s most famous landmark.
