Moudhros, Nisos Limnos, Greece

Moudhros is set in a protected bay that cuts deep into the isle of Limnos. Limnos is a quiet, subdued Greek isle with less tourist pressure than some. But it has plenty of appeal, starting with its rugged volcanic landscape and its fertile orchards of olives, fruits and wheat. It is also famous for honey. The ruins of Polyohni, near Moudhros, are among the oldest in Europe, predating even Troy. There are many beaches as well, and the capital of Myrina has cobbled streets, an interesting Archaeology Museum and a sprawling Kastro fortress on the hilltop above.
