This protected port on the southern coast of Paraná state is a popular beach resort. Just offshore is the natural paradise of Ilha do Mel (Honey Island), where cars are not allowed and you are free to enjoy the beaches and tranquility. Curitiba, the state capital, is connected by a railway line that includes some spectacular mountain scenery. The city has many attractions, including a wonderful botanical gardens and park, and a dazzling museum designed by the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. Colonial charm is the allure of nearby towns like Morretes and Antonina.
