Explore Gotland by bicycle. Heading out from the harbor, the first part of the cycle route will take you to Almedalen, once the site of the Hanseatic Harbor.
See the Kruttornet, or Powder Tower, the oldest tower on the city wall. It provided protection for the harbor during the Middle Ages. The tower was named Powder Tower in the 18th century when the Swedish state stored gunpowder in the tower.
Continue along Strandgatan to the lovely Botanic Gardens. Visby's mild winters allow such specimens as almond trees, magnolias and acacias to grow beside vivid displays of flowers.
Pass the Maiden's Tower and bike uphill to Klinten, a viewpoint overlooking the ruins of the old city, harbor and out to the Baltic Sea.
The route continues on a bicycle path into the countryside to the high cliff of Högklint, about three miles south of Visby.
Tea, coffee and local cakes are served at Princess Eugenie's Summer Residence in Fridhem, before you return via pedal power to Visby and the harbor.
Please note: Participants will cycle together as a group. Tour requires approximately 2½ hours of cycling. Tour operates rain or shine, but may be canceled by the operator in the event of extreme weather or unsuitable conditions. Maximum weight is 242 lbs. Suitable only for experienced and confident bike riders and for guests who are physically fit. Children's bikes and/or seats are available but must be reserved in advance through the onboard Destinations team. Helmets are provided and must be worn.
