Step aboard a modern, comfortable boat for a narrated cruise north into Lutak Inlet. Watch for quintessential Alaskan landmarks such as the Haines Alaska Marine Highway (ferry) dock, picturesque and rugged fjord coastlines, seasonal waterfalls, the mouth of the Chilkoot River, and terrific mountain and glacier views.
Leaving Taiyasanka Harbor, you will zip across the entrance of Taiya Inlet, passing a well-known harbor seal haul-out. Migratory waterfowl tend to hang out here as well.
Use the spotting scope or take in the views from the stern viewing deck. The land and waters in this area teem with wildlife. Keep an eye out for sightings of coastal brown bear, black bear, humpback whales, porpoise, bald eagles, mountain goats, surf scoters, and mergansers.
Visit the most spectacular waterwall in the upper Lynn Canal area. The size of the vessel allows for an exceptional viewing experience at Sawmill Falls.
Please note: Weather and atmospheric conditions vary; no guarantee is offered with regard to visibility or views on any particular day. The boat is not ADA accessible. Participants must be able to climb a few steps (up and down) unassisted to board the vessel, with an optional extra two steps to access the viewing platform. Terrain includes a marine ramp from the pier to the boat, which can be very steep at low tide. Mobility devices (wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, etc) cannot be accommodated on the boat. Restrooms are available on board. Maximum weight is 300 lbs. Minimum age is 7 years. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. Bring binoculars.
