Your own Pearl Journey begins as you board an authentic jalboot -- a traditional pearling boat. You'll be comfortably seated on the jalboot and enjoy Arabian hospitality and refreshments on board.
Your guide offers an introduction to the history of pearl-diving in the UAE and will explain the items used in the past for pearl diving. Learn how the present-day pearlers' forefathers dedicated their lives to collect thousands of seashells in the hope of finding a pearl. During this highly-interactive experience, you'll discover the traditional way of opening a living, natural oyster. If you're lucky enough to find a pearl, you can keep it as a souvenir of your journey.
Next, transfer to Qasr Al Hosn -- the earliest strategic base for Abu Dhabi's burgeoning pearling industry. This is also Abu Dhabi's symbolic birthplace, as it was home to the emirate's ruling Al Nahyan family. Nowadays, the Qasr Hosn Center tells the story of Abu Dhabi and its people through a series of informative exhibits.
