Koh Samui's fascinating culture and unique architecture captivate many visitors from all over the world. Explore some of the most famous landmarks on this island, including its most prominent Buddhist temples.
Board an air-conditioned vehicle and set off on a 30-minute drive to Wat Kunaram — home to the mummified corpse of its most famous monk who died while sitting in meditation. The monk's body is housed in a glass coffin.
Visit Wat Sila Ngu — a beautiful golden temple in Koh Samui often visited by locals as a place of worship. It contains some beautiful artwork, sculptures and illustrations and showcases the architecture of Thailand in a serene setting.
Back in the vehicle, head to the massive Guan Yu Shrine, symbolizing faith, loyalty, and moral strength. It is one of the island’s spiritual places to the local Chinese-Thai followers for more than 140 years. Last but not the least, you will enjoy walking through the local fresh market nearby. See how locals shop for their daily ingredients for their food before your return transfer back to the port.
Please note:
Tour requires walking of approximately 100 meters from the Chinese Shrine to the local fresh market, which could also have wet ground in certain spots. When visiting temples or Chinese shrine, modest attire is required — knees must be covered and you must remove your shoes. A guide waits for you at each point of interest and provides narration and explanation rather than riding with you in the vehicle. Limited tourism infrastructure is part of the charm here; you are trading breadth of guide experience for authentic interaction. Please bring your spirit of adventure and bear with any language difficulties or operational surprises that may crop up. Transportation provided may be basic and may not meet the standards found in other ports. Participants must be in good physical condition; please realistically assess your fitness and ability before booking, as the weather can be extremely hot. Minimum age is 6 years. Tour sequence may vary.
