Discover how lobsters get from the bottom of the ocean to your dinner plate. Learn about their habits, conservation efforts and the difference between hard-shells, shedders, shorts, culls and keepers.
You'll head out by boat onto the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. There, with the assistance of the boat crew, you will pull up a lobster trap and examine its inhabitants. This will be placed into a "live tank" on board the boat, allowing you to keep an eye on the catch until the end of the day, when they are released back into the sea.
Next up, take a waterfront stroll. Your guide carves a path through the streets of the charming part of Portland that, a hundred years ago, was home to fish houses, canneries, industrial factories and textile mills. Today, the brick warehouses here hold numerous fresh seafood shops, cafés, bakeries, and award-winning restaurants.
Your stroll concludes back at the pier.
Please note: Tour sequence may vary. Tour requires just over one hour of walking and standing on even and uneven paved surfaces. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer.
