Step back in time and immerse yourself in the traditions and heritage of Ireland at the Ulster Folk Museum, located in Cultra just outside Belfast. This unique open-air, living history museum recreates life in Ireland over 100 years ago, offering an authentic glimpse into the past.
Begin your visit with a warm welcome from a costumed guide and explore Ballycultra, a meticulously reconstructed Irish town featuring period buildings such as a picture house, post office, bank, churches, and traditional cottages. Each building tells its own story, and you’ll meet historic characters and skilled artisans performing craft demonstrations like basket making, blacksmithing, and traditional baking.
No Irish town experience would be complete without a stop at the local pub! Visit McCusker’s, where you’ll sample two local Irish whiskeys and soak up the atmosphere of a classic pub setting. After the guided tour, enjoy free time to explore independently, redeem your drink token, or browse the sweet and gift shops before returning to Belfast Port.
Please Note: Wherever Included Experience tours are offered, guests are allowed to participate in only one included experience per call unless otherwise specified in the tour description. Please be sure to book your included experience in advance as space may be limited on your specific choice. This tour involves walking at guests’ discretion around the museum grounds, which include paved paths and some uneven surfaces. Comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended. Wheelchair users are welcome but must be accompanied, as guides cannot provide assistance during the tour. Guests must be over 18 years old to participate in the whiskey tasting.
