Discover Scotland’s majestic capital on this panoramic tour and castle visit. Begin with a scenic drive through Edinburgh’s elegant Georgian New Town, along Princes Street, and down parts of the famous Royal Mile, which stretches from the 17th-century Palace of Holyroodhouse to the imposing Edinburgh Castle. Learn about the city’s rich history, from Mary Queen of Scots’ residence to Bonnie Prince Charlie’s occupation, and hear tales of dramatic events that shaped Scotland’s past.
Your journey culminates at Edinburgh Castle, a powerful national symbol perched atop an extinct volcano. Dominating the city skyline, this fortress is Scotland’s most visited historic site and part of Edinburgh’s UNESCO World Heritage designation. Inside, explore centuries of history reflected in its varied architecture, view the Crown Jewels of Scotland, and enjoy sweeping views across the city and beyond.
Please Note: This tour lasts approximately 4 hours and includes less than 1.5 km of walking at guests’ discretion within Edinburgh Castle. The approach involves a fairly steep hill and flights of stairs, some spiral. A courtesy vehicle and ramps provide access for guests with limited mobility, subject to availability, but wheelchair users must be accompanied. Sensible shoes and a light jacket are recommended. Large rucksacks are not permitted inside the castle, and photography is restricted in certain areas.
