Transfer by motorcoach to the area around the Eierlandse Gat. Here, common and gray seals congregate with enthusiasm, loudly proclaiming their joy at sunbathing on Texel's otherwise quiet shoreline.
You'll board a boat and head out onto the northern Wadden Sea. The Wadden Sea is an intertidal zone. While technically part of the North Sea, it forms a shallow body of water with mudflats and wetlands, earning it its own habitat designation. It lies between the coast of Holland and the low-lying Frisian archipelago. It is the only place on Texel where you can still see large groups of seals. The seals are familiar with the boat's blue silhouette and know they are in no danger. They often approach the boat, so you can see them up close.
Please note: Tour operates rain or shine but may be canceled by the operator in the event of extreme weather or unsuitable conditions. Bring a rain jacket. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Guests prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication.
