Stockholm, strategically built where freshwater Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic Sea, shows its best side from the water. Known as Beauty on Water, Stockholm is built on 14 islands and the mainland, all linked by more than 50 bridges. Water plays an important role in everyday life here — boating, swimming and fishing are popular activities in this capital city, where more than a third of the total surface area is water. Another third is devoted to parks and green areas.
This evening, you'll find yourself cruising the glittering waters of the Baltic Sea, relaxing with a glass of sparkling wine and taking in the scenery.
Cruise past Strandvägen — the most exclusive street in Stockholm — and watch for the impressive Vasa Museum as you continue further into the Eco-Park area. As you pass through Djurgårdsbrunn Bay, you'll see the embassy district, the TV Tower and the Maritime Museum.
Nature and culture collide in style at Stockholm National City Park, founded in 1995. It is home to rare plant and insect species not found elsewhere in Sweden, along with hundreds of protected, architecturally stunning buildings.
Leaving behind the green and lush park areas of Djurgården, you're headed toward the open sea and Fjäderholmarna — the Feather Islands. This archipelago is a popular recreational area and is famous for its lively seabird colonies. Cruise among the islands before returning to the city and the ship.
