Betikama in the Guadalcanal dialect means "beside the big water" a name that depicts the location of the site. It is secluded in a valley with a museum that holds WWII memories and artifacts that signify local culture from the nine provinces. Betikama is home to the national high school of the Solomon Islands and is known for the students’ angelic voices that sing choruses harmoniously in the campus.
This tour provides you a unique opportunity to hear the traditional bamboo band music with student singing. You can also see firsthand the scars of the WWII through the relics on the site.
See authentic artifacts from the 9 different provinces within the Solomon Islands and hear stories about their cultural significance.
A skilled carver will also demonstrate how carvings are made and you can even try your hand at making a carving yourself.
