The capital city of UAE, Abu Dhabi, literally translates as 'Father of the Gazelle'. Arabian gazelle, or dhabi, were once to be found abundantly here.
Your tour of this beautiful, lush green island city starts with a leisurely drive to its eastern shores, where you visit the Manarat Al Saadiyat. Manarat Al Saadiyat, literally meaning 'place that provides enlightenment', is a purpose-built visitor center. It brings the extraordinary vision of Saadiyat Island alive through scale models and a short video presentation.
Visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, an opulent tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed, former ruler of Abu Dhabi and President of UAE. This iconic monument to peace and universal brotherhood stands tall as the third-largest mosque in the world, with a simple yet elegant gravesite where the late President was laid to rest.
Continue the drive to the Heritage Village, where the culture and traditions of the Emirate are reflected in recreated village scenes, providing a glimpse into the simpler life and times before the discovery of oil. Stroll next to the adjacent breakwater, offering breathtaking views of Abu Dhabi's skyline, often referred to as the Manhattan of the Middle East.
The next stop is the six-star Emirates Palace Hotel where you will enjoy traditional Arabian cuisine. Afterwards, enjoy a leisurely drive along the glittering tower-lined corniche to reach the port.
Please note:
Modest attire is required to visit mosques; women's legs must be covered to the ankles and arms covered to the wrists; clothing must not be fitted, transparent or translucent. Women's hair must be completely covered. You must remove your shoes before entering the mosque(s). Entry to the mosque is entirely at the discretion of the security guards.
