This introduction to the Twin Cities of Napier and Hastings, conducted by air-conditioned motorcoach, offers an excellent overview of the Hawke's Bay area.
Departing the pier, travel through Napier's port suburb of Ahuriri. You will pause outside the National Tobacco Building to admire its stunning Art Deco façade; then, continue to Napier's prolific Art Deco District for a chance to appreciate more of the city's renowned architecture. Most of the buildings you see were built after the great earthquake of 1931, which destroyed parts of downtown Napier and Hastings.
Next, proceed along the pine tree-lined Marine Parade to the city of Hastings. Watch for the impressive Hawke's Bay Opera House, built in the early 1900s. It is one of the region's earliest examples of Spanish Revival architecture.
Next, travel along the Tuki Tuki Valley scenic loop route passing by some of Hawkes Bays famous vineyards, homesteads and landmarks.
Your journey concludes with a visit to Arataki Honey, an iconic name in New Zealand’s artisan food scene. Here, you will discover the story of beekeeping in Hawke’s Bay, sample the aromas and flavors of pure New Zealand honey. To complete your visit, enjoy a serving of local handmade ice cream in variety of flavors, a sweet indulgence that captures the essence of this celebrated producer.
Your memorable outing draws to a close as you return shipside.
