The parochial monuments of Poreč -- the basilica, atrium, baptistery and episcopal palace -- are outstanding examples of religious architecture. Don't miss these and a collection of breathtaking mosaics dating from the 6th century.
A scenic 90-minute drive takes you through the Učka Tunnel and across the Istrian countryside to Poreč. This nearly 2,000-year-old town is set on a protected harbor and is one of the most popular resorts in Croatia.
Walk with your guide through the oldest part of town -- Marafor -- where Roman ruins surround the famous Euphrasian Basilica. Featuring breathtaking mosaics dating from the 6th century and stunning Romanesque and Byzantine architecture, the basilica is quite spectacular.
Enjoy free time to explore at your leisure, perhaps picking up locally-produced olive oil and rakija (brandy) made from local herbs and fruits.
A short hop away is Rovinj -- a picturesque fishing town where historical architecture lines cobblestone streets. Follow your guide at first; then, discover Rovinj's charms as you set out on your own for some independent exploration. A seafood lunch is served at a local restaurant.
Conclude with a relaxing motorcoach ride back to the ship.
