Travel southeast through Derry City to the town of Bellagh, where the Seamus Heaney HomePlace is located. Heaney was one of Ireland's greatest writers and was awarded a Nobel Prize for Literature in 1995 for his work.
A home for inspiration, the HomePlace echos the life, literature and legacy of Seamus Heaney. It was developed by the Mid Ulster District Council and opened in September 2016. It houses an interactive exhibition arranged over two floors, and is filled with personal stories and artifacts, dozens of family photographs, video recordings from friends, neighbors, world leaders, cultural figures, and the voice of the poet himself. The HomePlace also includes a recreation of the poet's Dublin study.
After your self-guided visit, take a seat and enjoy a private reading of some of Seamus Heaney's work
In Derry City, enjoy lunch and some free time to explore independently.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes.
