Siglufjörður was once just a small, remote settlement with a strong tradition of shark fishing. People lived and died at the mercy of the elements. But in the 1900s, Siglufjörður became one of Iceland's most significant herring fishing towns, and everything changed. Learn about this metamorphosis and its legacy as you walk through town with an enthusiastic local guide.
After the stroll, it's time to head to Segull 67 Brewery — a boutique family-owned craft brewery located right in town. The brew house is housed in an old fish factory and takes its name from the Icelandic word for "magnet." Your hosts will explain why 67 seems to be their lucky number.
Learn about the production techniques from the Brewmeister and explore "behind the scenes" of the brewery itself. Pause for a tasting of the various beers made here.
Please note: Tour is conducted entirely on foot. Tour requires walking 300 yards (m) from the pier. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Minimum age to drink alcohol is 20 years, with a companion aged 21 years or older.
