Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of exotic flowers in Ecuador's lush coastal region. You'll admire a dazzling array of tropical blooms, celebrated for their vivid colors, captivating fragrances, and ecological significance.
Your day begins with a scenic drive from the port to Magic Flowers — a pioneering family-run farm certified by Rainforest Alliance/Utz. Nestled within a fertile coastal landscape, this farm cultivates more than 1,200 native Ecuadorian fern species and exotic Amazonian plants, many of which are exported to the United States and Europe. As you explore the fields, gain firsthand insight into the daily operations of this innovative enterprise and its commitment to sustainable agriculture. The owners will personally guide you through the lush gardens of heliconias, gingers, and musas. Learn all about the packing plant and the meticulous care taken in handling and packaging the flowers for international shipment. Enjoy a refreshing gourmet snack, served in the serene surroundings of the farm.
Next, travel to Ecuagenera — one of Ecuador's most renowned orchid farms. Here, delve deeper into the fascinating world of orchids, with 4,000 species cultivated on-site. As you stroll through the greenhouses, marvel at the kaleidoscope of colors and intricate forms that make orchids among the most prized flowers in the world. The farm also specializes in genetic engineering — creating entirely new orchid varieties, with each taking at least five years to develop from concept to bloom.
Relax on the drive back to the ship.
