A one-hour drive brings you to Karatsu, a mountain town famed for its ceramics since the 16th century. First, visit Kagamiyama Observatory offers a breath-taking panoramic view. You can walk through a pleasant popular Japanese park with seasonal flowers along with adorable shops selling traditional Karatsu-Yaki ceramics.
Continue to Niji-no Matsubara-a seaside strip of black pine forest planted by a feudal lord in the middle of the 18th century. Designated one of the 100 most scenic places in Japan, the forest boasts approximately a million trees in its two-mile-long strip. After a Japanese-style lunch featuring fresh squid, continue to the Hikiyama Exhibition Hall. The hall exhibits floats and costumes from the huge annual Karatsu Kunchi festival.
Then, visit Former Takatori House's Garden and visualize how the former residents used to live. The building itself is based on the Japanese style however, there is Western style room. It is uniqu style of building. Also, you will have a chance to see a Noh Theater

Wear comfortable walking shoes. Travel time to Karatsu is one hour each way. The restaurant only has "Floor seating (not chair & table)". Tour order may vary. Japanese Yen will be needed for additional purchases. Shoes must be removed to enter Former Takatori House's Garden.
