Visit Mikimoto Pearl Island — the birthplace of the cultured pearl. Learn about founder Kokichi Mikimoto during a tour of the museum, and follow the growth of a pearl from the moment the seed is surgically implanted until the time it's harvested.
You may also be lucky enough (seasonal) to catch Ama, traditional women divers in white outfits, in live action as they demonstrate how they dive into the sea to harvest pearl oysters.

Sitting just off the far tip of the peninsula, Kashikojima is the largest island in Ago Bay. Renowned for its pearl cultivation. Hop aboard a local boat and see if you can spot any oyster rafts (seasonal) floating in the water as your captain navigates around Kashikojima's jagged coastline on a sightseeing cruise.
