Gotland is Sweden's largest island. Its countryside, with woodlands, vast heaths and flowering meadows, is a rich environment for agriculture. Spend the afternoon exploring and visiting one of its 92 still-functioning medieval churches.
At Stafva Farm, taste fantastic locally produced cheeses along with the farm's homemade jam.
Pause at Gnisvärd, a picturesque fishing hamlet that dates back to 1700. Nearby is the Gnisvärd Ship Grave — a significant burial site dating from the Bronze Age.
Afterward, head to Ansarve sheep farm, home to around 150 ewes. Here you will find some Gotlandic products made by Jenny Granlund and her family and friends. They produce clothes and interior details from wool, sheepskin and yarn — all from their own sheep.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, inclines, gravel, grass, and steps. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water.
