Meet Kit Kemp, MBE

Kit is the Creative Director of Firmdale Hotels, which she co-founded with her husband, Tim Kemp, in 1985. Responsible for the globally renowned design of 11 hotels alongside commercial and residential design, Kit has completed a diverse range of international projects. The author of four successful books, Kit will introduce her fifth, Design Stories, published by Rizzoli in 2026.

Recognised widely for her contribution to the world of design, art and craft, Kit has received multiple international awards, including House & Garden's Hotel Designer of the Year, The Crown Estate's Urban Business Award and CN Traveller's Best Hotel in the World for Design. Kit was appointed an MBE for her services to the hospitality industry and charity, and she is a Trustee of the Fine Cell Work charity and Heritage of London Trust.
