Perched atop steep cliffs, Gaspé and Percé are breathtakingly beautiful, and the bus ride that joins the two is an unforgettable experience. As the bus winds slowly along the more than 60 miles of rugged cliffs and past sweeping bays, admire the most extraordinary panoramas in Eastern Canada -- the Bay of Gaspé, the Barachois de Malbaie (sandbar), the stunning precipices along the coast in Percé and, of course, its legendary rock. This fascinating area has attracted visitors and artists since the 1930s.
Upon arrival to Perce you will travel by boat around the l'Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé National Park, which takes you to both sides of the famous Percé Rock, and then out to see the largest gannet colony in the world, where thousands of birds nest on the cliffs of Bonaventure Island. It's an astonishing spectacle. Naturalists consider Bonaventure's colony of 120,000 northern gannets to be the most important and accessible colony of its kind in the world.
At the conclusion of your boat cruise, use your one hour of free time to explore the town of Percé -- it is an ideal place for shopping as its many souvenir shops, art galleries, and handicraft boutiques offer a wide variety of local and regional crafts and products, certain to inspire a multitude of gifts ideas.
Please note: Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair. It is essential that you wear warm, layered clothing in order to fully enjoy and participate in this excursion. Outer layer should be waterproof and windproof. If the day is cool you may wish to bring gloves, a warm hat and a scarf for the boat portion. Lunch is not included. You will have one hour of free time in Perce for shopping or to purchase lunch at your own expense. Limited tourism infrastructure is part of Gaspé's charm; please be advised that transportation may be more basic than in other ports (school bus or similar). Please note that the travel time to Perce is approximately 1 hour fifteen minutes each way.
