Travel on the scenic Lighthouse Route to famed Peggy's Cove. You'll have approximately one hour of free time to capture with your camera the iconic Peggy's Cove Lighthouse, perched on the granite shores of the cove. Take a brief stroll into the village overlooking the mighty Atlantic Ocean and see the De Garthe Monument carved from raw granite, paying tribute to the local fisherman. You may have some time to browse in the local shops offering all kinds of items, from tasty treats to kitsch, cute and quaint arts and crafts.
Departing Peggy's Cove, you will now travel to the town of Lunenburg, one of only two urban communities in North America to be designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Stroll among 18th- and 19th-century colonial buildings with brightly painted, colorful façades, admire the tall ships, fishing boats and yachts in the sunny harbor, the home port of Nova Scotia’s sailing ambassador, the Bluenose II. Choose to visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, Lunenburg’s historic district and the many shops and nautical souvenir stores along Lunenburg’s quaint streets.
Your tour ends with a relaxing drive back to the port of Halifax.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Visitors are asked to stay off the rocks and away from the shoreline at Peggy's Cove. Lunch is not included. You will have time to purchase lunch at your own expense during the tour.
