Discover the charms of the southern coastal town of Bosa and sample the famous Malvasia wine from Sardinia.
Journey by coach along the dramatic, winding coastal road toward the town of Bosa. Situated at the mouth of the River Temo, Bosa boasts an atmospheric Old Quarter dominated by the looming medieval Castle of Serravalle on the hillside. Bosa is a traditional fishing village bisected by the River Temo — Sardinia's only navigable river. It is known for lace and filigree, and is also an olive oil and wine-growing district. Its Malvasia varietal is particularly famous.
A guided walking tour takes you along the waterfront promenade, passing the fishermen's houses with red-tile roofs. Continue past the church and along the quaint, narrow lanes of this medieval town.
Next, head to a winery to sample Malvasia wine, accompanied by Sardinian cookies and other local specialties.
The return journey to Alghero takes you back along the same scenic route.
Please note: Tour requires approximately 1½ hours of walking. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, inclines, and steps. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Guests prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication.
