Depart the port of Ermoupolis for a short drive to the medieval village of Ano Syros, set upon a hilltop with quaint streetscapes and splendid views.
Follow your guide on a pleasant walking tour to the Cathedral of St George, the Capuchin Monastery, the Jesuit Monastery and the picturesque central square with its small shops. Stroll through the typically narrow Cycladic streets, with steps up and down.
Next is a panoramic drive to the southern part of the island of Syros, passing through numerous coastal villages with beautiful beaches -- Vari, Megas Yialos, Possidonia, Finikas, Galissas and Kini. At Finikas Beach, you will stop to take some photos. And, because a taste of Syros is practically mandatory, you will stop at a Loukoumi factory (think Turkish Delight) for a sweet introduction to the local specialty.
Return to Ermoupoli port and step inside the Greek Orthodox Church of the Assumption to admire an original icon by El Greco -- the famous Greek painter.
Walk back to the port with your guide. Guests who wish to stay in town to shop or explore are welcome to do so, but must return to the ship on their own.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes.
