Transfer to your drop-off point in the city center and walk to Vara de Rey, located in the lower part of the fortress. From there, head out on a walking tour to El Soto, high atop the rock that is D'alt Vila (Ibiza's Old Town). This very beautiful, fortified town-within-a-town boasts an imposing castle and cathedral at its summit. The town's walls date from the end of the 16th century, but the site of Ibiza's Old Town has been essential to the island's defenses and administration for more than 2,000 years. You will be amazed at the stunning views over Ibiza's sister island, Formentera, and the port of Ibiza.
From the top of D'alt Vila, walk through tiny, whitewashed alleys and a series of cobblestone streets and courtyards to view the 13th-century Maria de les Neus Cathedral from the outside. The cathedral is a very visible, simple tower whose silhouette can be seen for miles.
You will also view the Puget Museum and see the Dominican Convent (now the Town Hall), the Chapel of San Ciriaco, and the Episcopal Palace (now the Bishop's Residence).
Relax over a glass of sangria at a tiny bistro along the waterfront promenade.
In the lively port area of Ibiza, take advantage of some free time to stroll on your own.
Please note: The Tour does not operate on Mondays and holidays. Wear comfortable walking shoes. The walk from the bus stop in the city center to Vara del Rey is about 550 mts. Time permitting, some free time might be given in D'alt Vila for an opportunity of an inside visit of e.g., the Maria de les Neus Cathedral.
