Enjoy a full day exploring the Cinque Terre — a rugged collection of villages in the Liguria region of Italy. This famous part of the coastline is comprised of five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore.
Board a motorboat and travel from Portofino to Rapallo. Cruise along the Tigullio Gulf, enjoying views of the coast. In Rapallo, board an air-conditioned motorcoach to Manarola. Travel winding roads running through the Italian coastline and take in dramatic views of the Mediterranean Sea and local architecture. Enjoy a guided tour en route to your destination.
Once in Manarola, you will have some time to explore this tiny, picturesque village before proceeding by motorboat along the Cinque Terre. From the boat, you will see from afar the villages of Corniglia and Vernazza.
Disembark in Monterosso al Mare — the most famous village in Cinque Terre. After a guided introduction to the historical village, enjoy a refreshment and sample a bruschetta. Use your free time to explore the tiny shops and experience local hospitality. Local cafés offer a view of sandy beaches, colorful umbrellas and the blue Mediterranean Sea.
The next part of the journey is by local train, travel to Levanto, then board a bus to Rapallo. From Rapallo, cruise back to Portofino and return to your ship.
Please note: Lunch is not included. You will have time to purchase lunch at your own expense during the tour. Bring local currency, as some vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars. The transfer from Manarola to Monterosso will be by public ferry. If sea conditions result in ferry/boat cancellations, you will travel by bus or train instead. If you wish to swim at Monterosso, wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Swim at your own risk. Tour requires a moderate amount of walking. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, inclines, and steps. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Cinque Terre is a popular destination; expect crowding in the villages. You will likely encounter a long line while waiting to board the boat; boarding is strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience. Headsets missing after the tour incur a fee. There is no boat service in November and December; the tour operates by bus and train. Participants must bring photo ID on tour. Due to a change in traffic restrictions for the OVATION call on AUGUST 7, 2025 the entire tour will be conducted by private boat. While this results in a slight adjustment of the itinerary, you will still be able to enjoy the stops in Manarola and Monterosso al Mare, while at the same time discovering the wonderful views from the seaside from a private boat only for our Seabourn guests.
