Sangumburi Crater, a 40-minute drive from Jeju City, is one of the three major craters on the volcanic island of Jeju. It is home to more than 400 different species of subtropical, temperate and some alpine flowering plants. Walk along the well-paved path leading to a small pavilion and several scenic viewpoints. You can walk around part of the crater rim with your guide; however, walking inside the crater is not permitted.
Seongup Folk Village is part of the Jeju Folklore Preservation Zone. Here you can meet the friendly island people who still live behind stone courtyard walls in thatched-roof, lava-wall homes. The village features a Confucian temple, a school, one of the "stone grandfathers," a mill, and a fortress site. Observe the lifestyle of the people through their dialect, art, and traditions.
Enjoy a typical Jeju Pork barbecue lunch at one of the wonderful hotels of Pheonix Island and after lunch, walk down to Seojicoji. In contrast to other coastal areas on Jeju, the hill was formed by red volcanic ash scoria which lends a unique harmony to the landscape.
Finally, you’ll visit the Haenyeo Museum. View the various photos of the area’s famous female divers, or haenyeo, and the activities that highlight their lifestyle. The museum also features an observatory that offers a splendid view of the Hado-ri area, which includes a garden with various sculptures and a resting area. The first-floor lobby has a souvenir shop offering a variety of souvenirs related to the haenyeo divers.
Time permitting, your tour concludes with a stop at a local shopping area to browse for souvenirs before commencing the approximately one-hour drive back to the pier.
Please note: Tour does not operate on first and third Mondays.
