Departing from the airport, you will start your adventure flying 60km inland where you will take in the grandeur of the Kangia Ice Fjord and Kujalleq Glacier, featuring stunning ice formations and crystal clear blue water.

After approx. 30 minutes in the air, you will reach your destination where you will have the chance to hop out and explore. Enjoy 30 minutes to walk to the edge of the inland icecap. Bask in the silence of this magical place, enjoy the view and create your own memories of this vast landscape. 

In the 1960s and 1970s, several small settlements in Greenland were abandoned as people chose to move to the larger towns to find work. Assaqutaq, beautifully situated at the foot of the Nasaasaaq Peak on the south side, is one of these settlements.

Board a small boat for the short cruise to Assaqutaq where you will begin your exploration with a guided tour through the abandoned settlement. See the old fish processing factory, the small cemetery, the house currently used as a summer camp and the old church that still performs marriage ceremonies for couples looking for something a little more rugged.

Meet your local captain and board a boat at the pier to set off on your 1.5 hour journey to see the magnificent icebergs, laying at the mouth of the Ilulissat Icefjord. These icebergs come from one of the fastest and most active glaciers in the world, Sermeq Kujalleq Glacier, moving around 130ft per day. The size of 66,000 football fields, the glacier is responsible for creating 10% of the icebergs in Greenland. When you reach the icebergs, your captain will navigate through the ice, bringing you as close as safely possible, so you will have plenty of time to take pictures of these enormous chunks of ice, some being as tall as skyscrapers!
