Situated beside a bay, the fortified city of Ceuta has watched over the Strait of Gibraltar since long ago. The walled city presides over the Old Quarter, whose nerve center is the Plaza de Nuestra Señora de Africa.
Enter the city center by way of a short walk, pausing to visit the Plaza of Africa.
You'll discover that Ceuta's cuisine reflects the cultural mixture of its inhabitants and its coastal location. Fish and shellfish are cooked in Andalusian-style seafood stews. Meat is seasoned with Moroccan-style spices. You'll visit three bars for a splendid introduction to local cuisine through a delicious tapas tasting experience. Each bar offers two tapas and one beverage.
Time permitting, guests wishing to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so, but must make their own way back to the ship.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water.
