Time to venture onto the fascinating country roads that will take us back in time to Sovana and Pitigliano, in the heart of the Etruscan region.
Our first visit is Sovana, where time seems to have come to a standstill. After your guide’s lecture, enjoy some self-exploration in this picturesque historic center, then transfer to Pitigliano, a 4-thousand-year-old town hanging on a tufa hill-- the first impression you get is that of a town whose houses seem to spring directly from the rock.
Pitigliano is also known as the “Little Gerusalemme,” as in the past a large Jewish community lived here after their exile from the city of Rome in the early 12th century.
Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After this food experience, resume the drive back to port.
