Hop into the Zodiacs with the Expedition team to explore the shoreline of isolated Monumental Island. At first glance, this windswept chunk of rock seems impossibly inhospitable. Thankfully, the walruses of Baffin Bay disagree and enthusiastically haul themselves ashore to rest on its smooth boulders. Watch for seabirds feeding in the rich waters before winter sets in, and scan the horizon for icebergs making their way out to sea. Polar bears sometimes patrol the ice floes in search of indolent seals, and whales can be spotted feeding offshore.
