Recife is the capital of northeastern Brazil and is known as the Venice of Brazil because it is bisected by numerous waterways and crisscrossed by many bridges. Recife's deep cultural roots are notable, and the city boasts five universities, as well as legions of art galleries and museums.
Enjoy a panoramic introduction to Recife en route to the Instituto Ricardo Brennard. This facility is housed in a medieval-style building and features a collection of weaponry and armor dating back to the Dutch colonial period.
At the Museum do Homen do Nordeste, discover the most complete colonial museum in Brazil with a sociological and anthropological section. Pieces on display cover the sugar plantation period, the Northeastern peoples, and handicrafts and art -- both religious and secular.
Please note:
Your guide will do his/her best to speak English, but please keep in mind that the limited tourism infrastructure of Recife is part of the city's charm, and bear with any language difficulties (s)he may encounter. Tour does not operate on Mondays or weekends
