Galle, Sri Lanka, is a city with a colorful history. The magnificent Dutch fort is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the town's most popular attraction. Galle had been a European administrative centre over 4 centuries, and much of the colonial Dutch character of the city remains. Take a boat trip in the lagoon and Kogggala Lake to see many of the small islands, which are popular destinations for bird watching.
