Syvota is the main town of a small Ionian island group situated near the Greek mainland just inshore from Corfu. It is a tremendously popular resort area renowned for its lovely scenery and beaches. For Seabourn, the port offers access to two different ruined cities of antiquity. Cassopea was built as a cliff-side town in the 4th century BCE, and later was ruined when the stone cliffs collapsed. The ruins are impressive and reveal a great deal about Greek life of the period. Nikopolis, near the present-day city of Preveza, was built by the Roman emperor Octavian to celebrate his victory over the fleet of Antony and Cleopatra in the maritime battle fo Aktion in 31 BCE.
