Join this exclusive experience that includes a hands-on Native crafts session, a culinary tasting, and a guided tour of Saxman Native Village.
Learn about Tlingit form-line drawing as a local artist shows you how to design your own native ornament. Select from a raven or eagle template and paint them using authentic colors.
Treat your taste buds as you learn about Alaskan ingredients and their uses in a modern cooking environment. This food tasting enhances your culinary knowledge and expands your palate with authentic Alaskan elements. Begin with a delicious smoked salmon dip paired with crackers, followed by crab cakes accompanied by house-made bull kelp aioli sauce. Next, create your own native taco using bison meat and an array of traditional toppings. Save space for dessert, as a delicious s'more parfait awaits you. All these delightful dishes pair perfectly with local wines, beers, and craft sodas, included and served as a flight.
Discover a cultural showcase of Alaska Native art, clothing, and tools. These artifacts include traditional hand-carved pieces by Master Carver Nathan Jackson and other items from the original Village of Cape Fox.
Your local tour host will teach you Tlingit customs, traditions, and stories of the Elders as they guide you through the exhibits and totem park. The highlight will be watching the Cape Fox dancers perform a playlist of Tlingit songs and dances in the Beaver Clan House.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. Tour sequence may vary.
