Lake Tekapo, a glacial blue gem in the heart of the South Island, is just one of the highlights of this scenic tour.
Travel by coach through the varied farmland of the Canterbury Plains, where sheep, cattle, deer, and even free-range pig farms dot the landscape. Wander through the rural town of Fairlie, famous for its award-winning pies and the annual farming show.
At Three Creeks, view NZ outdoor wooden furniture and metal sculptures — a visual delight and many talking points.
Back on the coach, you'll enter the famed Mackenzie Country, named after a sheep rustler with quite a reputation in the late 1800s.
Stunningly beautiful Lake Tekapo is your destination. This large glacial blue lake is flanked by mountains in the distance and sports the absolutely iconic, pint-sized Church of the Good Shepherd on its southern shoreline. Step inside the church for a view for the ages and, outside, check out the nearby statue of a sheepdog, which honors the role that sheepdogs play in high-country farming.
Please note: This is a scenic driving tour; total distance traveled by coach is approximately 140 miles (240 km). Estimated time on the coach is about 90 mins each way. Participants must be able to climb a few steps unassisted to board the transportation. Weather and atmospheric conditions vary; no guarantee is offered with regard to visibility or views on any particular day.
