From the pier, it's a 45-minute drive by motorcoach to the remarkable ruins of Pompeii — the world's finest example of an ancient Roman town, perfectly preserved since the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79.
Your walking tour will touch on several highlights, and you'll notice as you walk that the chariot-wheel ruts made by the ancient Romans are still clearly visible in the cobblestones.

Please note: Travel time to Pompeii is approximately 45 mins to one hour each way. Backpacks and large bags are not allowed inside the Pompeii excavation site; lockers are not available. Extensive walking for approximately three hours is required. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, inclines, gravel, grass, and steps. Not advisable for guests with mobility limitations. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses, wear biodegradable sunscreen. Bring bottled water.
