In the picturesque Karst region of Slovenia, under the shade of centuries-old lime and oak trees, lies the Lipica Stud Farm — birthplace of the world-famous Lipizzaner horses. Depart the pier by coach and drive approximately 30 minutes to the farm, while your local guide provides you with background information about Koper and Slovenia, and about the farm itself.
Founded in 1580, the Lipica Stud Farm is a jewel among Slovenia's cultural and historical monuments. For more than four centuries, it has nurtured the tradition of breeding and selecting these magnificent white beasts. After World War II, Lipica established a classical riding school and successfully performed with its horses all over the world. Upon arrival at the farm, you will meet your official guide from Lipica, who will escort you on your walking tour of the grounds. Your first stop is at the stables, as you become acquainted with the Lipizzaners in residence.
Continue with a stroll around the farm grounds and see these magnificent creatures at pasture. Conclude by watching a training session in the main hall.
Enjoy a snack before the scenic drive back to the pier.
