Amazing Amsterdam has always had strong ties to the water. Spread out over 70 islands, this cosmopolitan city and capital of the Netherlands boasts 60 miles of canals and 1,000 bridges.
Hop aboard the glass-topped canal boat for a 90-minute cruise to explore Amsterdam’s canals and waterways. You will quickly gain a sense of the city’s rich history. Amsterdam is, not surprisingly, often called the Venice of the North, and its canals have been used for centuries to transport goods throughout the city. Today, you can cruise the same canals purely for pleasure. Lined with trees and monumental buildings, the famous crescent-shaped Herengracht, Keizergracht and Prinsengracht Canals feature canal houses converted into offices, shops and restaurants, but many still function as private residences.
