Begin your day with ease with a pick-up for you and your luggage directly from the 1 Hotel in Copenhagen. It's a transfer to the ship with a difference, as you will see the main sites of the city and visit Rosenborg Castle.
Copenhagen is a city where royal history, modern design, and relaxed Scandinavian charm blend effortlessly. Exploring the Danish capital is best done at a leisurely pace, allowing time to enjoy its historic streets, waterfront views, and green spaces.
Start your tour through Copenhagen from your hotel and pass historic city center, where pastel-colored townhouses line narrow streets and bicycles outnumber cars. Highlights typically include the elegant Amalienborg Palace, home of the Danish royal family, the colorful harbor of Nyhavn with its cafés and sailing ships, and the iconic Little Mermaid statue overlooking the water. Along the way, visitors experience a city that balances centuries of history with contemporary urban life.
A key highlight of any Copenhagen visit is Rosenborg Castle, set within the peaceful King’s Garden (Kongens Have). Built in the early 17th century as a pleasure castle for King Christian IV, Rosenborg is a superb example of Dutch Renaissance architecture. Its copper spires rise above the surrounding park, creating one of the city’s most picturesque sights.
Inside the castle, visitors step directly into Denmark’s royal past. Lavishly furnished rooms display original interiors, oil paintings, tapestries, and royal regalia. One of the most memorable experiences is viewing the Danish Crown Jewels, housed securely in the castle’s treasury beneath the building. The Long Hall, with its coronation thrones guarded by silver lions, offers a striking insight into the power and ceremony of Denmark’s monarchy.
