Embark your 4×4 truck at the town of Olafsvik where you will drive to the root of the glacier to meet the Snowcat. Climb onboard this vehicle that has been specifically built to handle the rough glacial landscapes and head out across the white expanse of Snaefellsjokull glacier.
The glacier rises 1446 meters above sea level. The mountain is one of the most famous sites in Iceland, primarily due to Jules Verne’s novel "Journey to the Center of the Earth" in which an entrance to a passage leading to the center of the earth is found on Snaefellsjokull. It is said that the glacier has a mystical power and is one of the eight points of power in the world.
The feeling of standing on a glacier which sits above a mighty volcano is second to none. The incredible views from the glacier will provide fantastic photo opportunities and lasting memories.
Please note: Views from the glacier are naturally dependent upon local weather conditions at the given moment. The weather in Iceland is very unpredictable. It is very important to bundle up in warm clothes and wear sturdy footwear with a non-skid sole, a hat and gloves.
