Karlskrona, the capital of the province of Blekinge, is a prominent naval port with a strong maritime tradition. Enjoy a guided walk through this beautiful city that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll begin with a visit to the Admiralty Church — the largest wooden church in Sweden. In front of the church, you will find the wooden figure of Old Rosenbom. This character from Swedish folklore makes himself useful — lift up his hat, and you'll discover a quirky donation box.
Wander towards the expansive Stortorget (main square), lined with several monumental buildings including the neo-Classical Town Hall, the Baroque Frederiks Church (1744), and the round Trinity Church (1709). The two churches were designed by Nicodemus Tessin the Younger, who also designed the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
Relax over a cup of tea or coffee and a Swedish pastry at one of the charming local cafés. Then, explore the district of Björkholmen and admire the adorable little 17th-century houses of the then-working class.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes.
