Listen to safety instructions from your guide; then, hop on your bike and pedal alongside the Danes River. When you reach the pedestrian-ferry dock, step aboard the small craft for a 10-minute crossing of the lagoon to the Curonian Spit. On the Spit, you'll ride to the breakwater, passing old fishing vessels and a typical 19th-century fishermen's farmstead en route. Watch for a 19th-century Prussian military fort -- now the Sea & Maritime Museum -- as well as the Curonian Lagoon and Klaipeda commercial port.
Continue on the forest trail out to see one of the most beautiful beaches in Klaipeda and on the Baltic Sea and then along the picturesque Curonian Spit towards the Hagen Dune, where you will stop to view the panorama of Klaipeda.
Cycle back to the ferry for the short ride back to the pier in Klaipeda.
Please note: Participants must be in good physical condition and be comfortable using bicycle handbrakes. There are inherent risks involved with any cycling excursion; participate at your own risk. Wear comfortable walking shoes and comfortable, loose clothing. Carry a backpack for belongings; bring bottled water. Distance covered is approximately 10 miles.
